Wool-Free Yarns be WEIRD

Whether you’re allergic to wool, shopping vegan, or just curious about what’s out there, today’s video is packed with nearly 20 non-wool yarns I’ve swatched, tested, and reviewed — from soft cottons to silky Tencel to yarns made from sugar and milk (yes, really). You’ll get tips for working with plant-based, synthetic, and protein-based yarns, learn how they behave, and discover what makes each one shine — plus a few hilarious insights from Oscar, naturally. I also share a few standout picks from Sheepless Yarns, a wool-free shop started by a knitter with serious animal fiber allergies. And don’t miss the details about my new summer upload schedule, upcoming travel plans, and how to get access to exclusive member content in the After Hours Lounge.

I still need to add a bunch of links to the projects I show off in this vid. Stay tuned!

Keep those needles clicking!

  1. I tried to email this to you after your third Wrap Over episode but I birthed your email so I am sending the message this way. Best wishes and many thanks for all your work. I live every episode.

    Dear Nicole,

Tonight I have just watched your The One That went wrong wrap over video for at least the second and am taking you up on your offer of help. Last year I bought into Andrea Mowry’s Spin It to Knit it Traveler KAL. Many problems!!!

The spinning results were awful—even though I was so thrilled to have been able to spin useable yarn… The gauge was way wrong-bulky weight. The Traveler Shawl was a wonky asymmetrical thing. I did knit it. I did complete it. It is ghastly. Truly. It won’t stay on my shoulders. I am an old lady who wants shawls around my shoulders to keep me warm. I do not want them “styled” around my neck like a bib…I am old but not to the dribbling stage yet.

Because of the design of that shawl would you recommend pulling it out, unkinking the yarn and reknitting? I will look at you last suggestion brought on by Wendy from New York’s question but…

    Many thanks.

Maybe this link to my Ravelry page will give you a better idea. Hopefully I copied it correctly.

    1. Hello, Pattie!

I’m so sorry you’ve had trouble reaching me. I get questions from so many different sources, some weeks it’s hard to keep up

Give me a few days to take a look at your issue and I’ll get back to you one way or another.

      Cheers, Nicole ❤️
